Boost blog traffic with keyword Selection and How to SEO:

Keyword

One of the biggest sources of traffic to your blog will be search engines, particularly Google. You can boost the traffic that comes to your blogs from search engines by implementing search engine optimization (SEO) tricks into your blog layout and writing. You can get started by doing some keyword research and determining which keywords selection are likely to drive the most traffic to your blog. Then focus on incorporating those keywords selection into your blog posts using the tricks below.

01

Use keywords in your blog post title.

People Images/Getty Images

One of the best ways to incorporate keywords into your blog posts is to use them in your blog post titles. However, don’t sacrifice a title’s ability to motivate people to click through and read your entire blog post. Learn tips to write great blog post titles.

02

Focus on using just one or two keyword phrases in each blog post.

To maximize the traffic that comes to your blog via search engines, focus on optimizing each of your blog posts for just one or two keyword phrases. Too many keyword phrases dilute the content of your post for readers and can look like spam to both readers and search engines. You can learn more about using specific keywords to maximize search traffic by reading about long tail search engine optimization.

03

Use keywords throughout your blog posts.

Try to use your keywords (without keyword stuffing) multiple times in your blog post. For best results, use your keywords within the first 200 characters of your blog post, several times throughout your post, and near the end of the post. Take some time to learn more about keyword stuffing and other search engine optimization don’ts.

04

Use keywords in and around links in your blog post.

Search engine optimization experts believe that search engines like Google place more weight on linked text than unlinked text when ranking search engine results. Therefore, it’s a good idea to include your keywords in or next to the links within your blog posts when it’s relevant to do so. Be sure to read about how many links are too many for SEO before you start adding links to your posts.

05

Use keywords in image Alt-tags.

When you upload an image to your blog to use in your blog post, you usually have the option of adding alternate text for that image which appears if a visitor cannot load or see your images in their Web browsers. However, this alternate text can also help your search engine optimization efforts. That’s because the alternate text appears within the HTML of your blog post content as something called an Alt-tag. Google and other search engines crawl that tag and use it in providing results for keyword searches. Take the time to add keywords that are relevant to the image and post in the Alt-tag for each image you upload and publish on your blog.

Find Powerful Keywords for Your Blog

Keyword Planning

SEMRush and Google Analytics are the gold standards as far as keyword research tools go. You can use them to gain insights about keywords – specifically, search volume and competition.

Search Volume—defined in terms of estimated monthly traffic. This gives you an idea of how many people are searching using the specified keyword.

Competition—defined on a scale of low to high (Google) or from 0 to 1 (SEMRush, with 1 representing high competition). This gives you a general idea of how difficult it will be to rank for the specified keyword.

NOTE: “Competition” should be treated as a guideline more than a rule. It’s easiest to get a feel for the competition you’re facing by looking at the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). By looking at the websites you’ll be competing with for the keyword, you’ll get a better idea of what is meant by “competition.”

Long-Tail Keywords vs. Head Terms

The two main categories you can break keywords into are long-tail and head terms. Long-tail keywords are longer, more specific keywords. Head terms are more generic, shorter keywords.

Example

Head Term: “laptop charger”

Long-tail keyword: “replacement laptop charger for MacinSoft 2000X”

While long-tail keywords don’t get as much search volume, they do allow you to target your content better to drive more relevant traffic. This leads to better conversion rates because searchers who have a specific search query are more likely to be close to buying.

Additionally, for businesses that are just starting to blog, long-tail keywords are a great way to get quick wins in SERPs. The cumulative effect of ranking for several long-tail keywords builds authority so you can start targeting more competitive head terms in your evergreen content.

Incorporating Keywords into Blog Posts

Search engine algorithms have gotten smart, so stuffing keywords into your post in a nonsensical way will do nothing but harm. The best way to incorporate keywords naturally is to ensure that your keyword is highly relevant to your topic, and to plan out your topic and keywords together before writing the post. You’ll know you’re doing it right when it’s impossible to write about your chosen topic without using the keyword you’re targeting.

Also, take care to include the keyword in all the relevant places—titles, h2 tags, meta descriptions, and alt text. Make sure your keyword is also included in your first paragraph and used two other times throughout your article. Yoast is a great plugin for WordPress that provides a real-time checklist for proper keyword placement.

No matter your business, knowing how to find keywords will give you a huge leg up on the competition. The right keywords are essential to a robust blogging strategy. Have more questions about finding powerful keywords? Set up a time to talk with the content team at Volume Nine!

Keywords Least Competitive

To select the least competitive keywords is to use those key phrases, which contain at least 3-4 words. All 1- and 2-word queries have HUGE competition. If you’re on a tight budget, focus on long tail keywords (which contain 4 or more words).

There is likely no optimal keyword density (search engine algorithms have evolved beyond keyword density metrics as a significant ranking factor). It can be useful, however, to note which keywords appear most often in your page, and if they reflect the intended topic of your page. More importantly, the keywords in your page should appear within natural sounding and grammatically correct copy.

High-quality Backlink Best way

bl27

Best way to get high-quality, relevant backlink to your blog web site by creating unique, relevant content that can naturally gain popularity in the Internet community and the best way to get other sites to link up high-quality, relevant backlinks to your blog web site. Our users question always “What makes a backlink good or bad? What is a high quality backlink?”

A high quality backlink comes from relevant authoritative domains in your niche. If the website linking to your site has a high Domain Authority and has similar content, your backlink will be good for SEO.

A bad backlink comes from unrelated and untrusted sources. Sites that have been penalized and those that are violating Google’s Webmaster Guidelines can have a negative impact on your SEO. To avoid having bad backlinks, you have to perform a quick website audit to all the sites you plan to build links on.

So you want to build quality backlinks to your website and rank higher in Google. That’s what all SEOs want. With Google Penguin and other similar threats, you have to be very cautious at what type of backlinks you are building. If your website has lots of quality backlinks, good things will happen to your organic traffic. On the other side, bad backlinks will do more harm than good. Link building (alternative spellings include link building and link-building) refers to the process of getting external pages to link to a page on your website. It is one of the many tactics used in search engine optimization (SEO). Technique of driving quality traffic to one’s site has remained evergreen and that is getting a high number of high quality links pointing to your site in the right context. While the Panda and Penguin updates created many changes in the way we look at off-page and on-page SEO, Hummingbird makes it imperative that we get our link-building strategies completely Google-proof if we don’t want to be relegated to the dark dungeons of page two and beyond on a Google SERP.

Links are the lifeblood of Search campaigns and the foundation on which every site is visible in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). Creating good content pays off: Links are usually editorial votes given by choice, and the more useful content you have, the greater the chances someone else will find that content valuable to their readers and link to it. Naturally your site will be linked up with high quality page rank site linking with will produce best search engine results pages automatically.

There are ways to manually submit your site to millions of forums, blog comments, and directories, but those links are generally very low quality and have been the focus of algorithm updates such as Penguin. This metric, which is the number of times an anchor in your backlink profile occurs, is best measured using tools like Open Site Explorer, MajesticSEO, Ahrefs, etc., is very important. An ex-Googler told at SMX Australia to always be sure the highest occurring anchor text for a site is branded otherwise you may trigger an algorithmic filter or penalty.

Some backlinks won’t improve your rankings at all, and some might even have a negative effect. It’s logical that a high quality backlink would come from a high quality website, and that a high quality site would also be a very trustworthy site.To determine if a website is trustworthy, search engines use a set of trusted seed sites (for example, Wikipedia, BBC, The Huffington Post, etc.)

High-Quality BackLink building & search for Ranking in Search Engines

Search engines will count all the links pointing at websites (except those blocked using nofollow or other methods), but they don’t count them all equally. They give more weight to the links that are considered to be of better quality.

Various link building techniques to compile the best strategy to avoid Google penalties. According to my research, I have observed that Google takes serious action if your links are built unnaturally by any means such as directories, bookmarks, guest blogging and etc.

BackLink schemes-Google way

Understand Google’s quality criteria  guidelines of what NOT to do…

Content that is scraped from renowned, well-ranked sites

Low-quality guest posting

Syndicating your own content to well-read blogs and publishers

Doorway sites are another old black hat technique that Google frowns upon

Running an affiliate program is a perfectly acceptable way to earn rank. However, if the affiliate sites that link to your website contain just copied product descriptions with a couple of comments from the affiliate site owner, they do absolutely nothing for improving the rankings of your site. If you do have to have affiliates linking into your webpages, make sure they are high quality sites that contain original content besides content about your product. An original review, accompanied by comments and product recommendations from a trusted blog owner would make a real difference in convincing a potential user as well as Googlebot.

Any links intended to manipulate PageRank or a site’s ranking in Google search results may be considered part of a link scheme and a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. This includes any behavior that manipulates links to your site or outgoing links from your site.

The following are examples of link schemes which can negatively impact a site’s ranking in search results:

Buying or selling links that pass PageRank. This includes exchanging money for links, or posts that contain links; exchanging goods or services for links; or sending someone a “free” product in exchange for them writing about it and including a link

Excessive link exchanges (“Link to me and I’ll link to you”) or partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking

Large-scale article marketing or guest posting campaigns with keyword-rich anchor text links

Using automated programs or services to create links to your site

Additionally, creating links that weren’t editorially placed or vouched for by the site’s owner on a page, otherwise known as unnatural links, can be considered a violation of our guidelines. Here are a few common examples of unnatural links that may violate our guidelines:

Text advertisements that pass PageRank

Advertorials or native advertising where payment is received for articles that include links that pass PageRank

Links with optimized anchor text in articles or press releases distributed on other sites. For example:
There are many wedding rings on the market. If you want to have a wedding, you will have to pick the best ring. You will also need to buy flowers and a wedding dress.

Low-quality directory or bookmark site links

Keyword-rich, hidden or low-quality links embedded in widgets that are distributed across various sites, for example:
Visitors to this page: 1,472
car insurance

Widely distributed links in the footers or templates of various sites

Forum comments with optimized links in the post or signature, for example:
Thanks, that’s great info!
– Paul
paul’s pizza san diego pizza best pizza san diego

Note that PPC (pay-per-click) advertising links that don’t pass PageRank to the buyer of the ad do not violate our guidelines. You can prevent PageRank from passing in several ways, such as:

Adding a rel=”nofollow” attribute to the <a> tag

Redirecting the links to an intermediate page that is blocked from search engines with a robots.txt file

The best way to get other sites to create high-quality, relevant links to yours is to create unique, relevant content that can naturally gain popularity in the Internet community. Creating good content pays off: Links are usually editorial votes given by choice, and the more useful content you have, the greater the chances someone else will find that content valuable to their readers and link to it.

If you see a site that is participating in link schemes intended to manipulate PageRank, let us know. We’ll use your information to improve our algorithmic detection of such links.

Keyword research is at the core of pay-per-click marketing and SEO practices.

Google AdWords Keyword Tool is no longer available – Google has folded the tool into Keyword Planner, a combination of the old keyword tool and the Traffic Estimator. Now, you need an AdWords account to get keyword suggestions from Google. But Google is far from the only keyword game in town.

1.) WordStream’s Keyword Tool (free)

Ahhh yes… Of course I could never forget WordStream’s very own keyword tool for both SEO and PPC keyword research.

The WordStream keyword tool allows you to target certain niches (groups of related keywords), gives you further suggestions, and also allows you to group them based off of a common theme for easy ad group launches.

2.) FreshKey ($20 software)

Though not free, FreshKey is my #1 go-to keyword research tool that allows me to see beyond the regular Google Instant suggestions and predictions that appear when I start typing things in on Google.

Not only does it give you new keyword ideas, variations, and synonyms, it also sorts the keywords depending on popularity.

3.) Soovle (free)

If you have multiple channels you wish to do keyword research for and want to sound like an idiot explaining the pronunciation of this tool to your watercooler buddies, then Soovle is a perfect fit.

Soovle allows you to explore the most typed in keywords on multiple search engines based on the keyword root you give it. It even includes Amazon and eBay.

Not only is it a great keyword research tool to use, but it’s also a great brainstormer as you can slowly start typing in your ideas and allow it to auto-generate its own ideas.

4.)  Ubersuggest (free)

Meet the keyword research tool on steroids, Ubersuggest.

Ubersuggest takes any keyword you give it and immediately gives you an almost unlimited list of alphabetized and numerical keyword variations of your original keyword.

You can even take it further by adding “bounce house ab, ac, ad” to uncover more keywords that you could potentially bid on or use for SEO purposes.

5.) Search Term/Query Reports (free-ish)

Now even though you won’t be expanding your keyword net by using search query report mining, you’ll at least be improving your AdWords or Bing Ads account by patching up holes.

One common thing I notice in PPC accounts is the lack of attention and detail in which the account owner or previous agency allows one or a couple of keywords to be the “catch all” for everything. A common example would be to have the keyword +bounce +house or “bounce house” and leave it at that.

6.)  Google Keyword Planner (free)

Duuuhhh…! Of course this is on the list.

The Google Keyword Planner is sometimes regarded as the alpha and omega of keyword research tools. You must have an AdWords account to access it, and that doesn’t mean you have to pay anything to use it, it’s still free.

The Google Keyword Planner will show you some pretty neat stats like average monthly searches, competition level (high, medium, or low), the average cost per click, and more.

It doesn’t give you exact keyword suggestions like FreshKey or Ubersuggest, but it actually takes it a step further and suggests more synonyms and variations than many other tools available.

7.) Competitor Source Code (free)

This might not be the best and most fruitful keyword research tool but it allows you to see what meta keywords your competitors could be using to try to rank organically.

Since I use Google Chrome as my browser, it’s super simple to right-click on a site and select “View Page Source.”

8.) AdWords Display Planner (free)

AdWords’ Display Planner tool isn’t solely a keyword tool, but it does offer a great deal of functionality that could be invaluable to marketers of all stripes.

The Display Planner tool replaced the YouTube Keyword Tool in 2014, and can be accessed from the Tools section of your AdWords account. Although it’s a little more involved than entering a keyword into the YouTube Keyword Tool, the Display Planner offers some great functionality for making the most of Display campaigns, including keyword-driven video ad campaigns on YouTube. The Display Planner also offers precious insights into the demographics and interests of your audiences, allowing you to create highly tailored Display campaigns.

Facebook Ad Creator – The Facebook Ad Creator is to audience research what the Google Adwords Keyword Tool is to Keyword Research.

GoFish – This is a tool that I built to perform real-time keyword research in order to help identify co-relevant ideas that are already occurring on Twitter and gives you a list of users that have tweeted those keywords.

Facebook Ad Creator – You might be surprised to see this tool twice. In addition to being great for segment inventory it’s also great for inferring content ideas that will resonate with those people.

Ask for Links in Mailing List Signups – Encourage users to link to your website when sending out the confirmation email for your mailing asking them or including embed code.
Profile Links – Many Web 2.0 profiles allow you to implement a “DoFollow” link or links that pass link equity. When claiming your brand on social networks be sure to include links from your profile.

Directory Submission – Directory submissions are generally considered the lowest form of link building and generally won’t help you move the needle. That said you can easily identify directories with keyword searches plus directory type e.g. “3d tv rss directory.” Again, you can show numbers with these, but they are generally not worth your time.

Better Business Bureau – The BBB has a site with an incredibly high domain authority, it’s a widely trusted site in both the eyes of the search engines and the consumer. Getting linked from this site is fairly easy and very valuable.
Chamber of Commerce – Similar to the BBB, the local chamber of commerce provides the same type of value and ease for obtaining links.
Join the Conversation – Typically this is called “link dropping,” but that is only in cases where people place links without joining in the conversation contextually. If you are adding to the conversation (as seen on SEOmoz posts) this is a viable tactic for link building.

Message Boards/Blogs – Find these with keyword searches in Google’s discussion search and Social Mention.

Link building (alternative spellings include linkbuilding and link-building) refers to the process of getting external pages to link to a page on your website. It is one of the many tactics used in search engine optimization (SEO). Building links is a difficult, time-consuming process as not all links are created equal. A link from an authoratative website like the Wall Street Journal will make a greater impact on a SERP than a link from a newly built website, but high quality links are hard to come by.
